Horizontal 3-Phase Separator Tool

Horizontal gas / light-liquid / heavy-liquid separator sizing transformed from the supplied Rev. 4 workbook: vapour disengagement, oil-water settling, overflow weir / boot / submerged weir / standpipe configurations, liquid holdup and nozzle screening.

Workbook reference: Horizontal Three Phase Separator Rev. 4V-L drag/K-valueL-L settlingMetric / Imperial

Enter design data and run the calculation to size the separator.

Workbook transformation

  • Mapped from the uploaded Rev. 4 workbook: Three-Phase Horizontal Imperial, optimizer sheets, Summary Imperial, Segment Tables, Drag Coefficient and Flange Weight tables.
  • Vapour-liquid settling uses the workbook drag-coefficient polynomial / Souders-Brown K-value basis with length correction.
  • Light-heavy liquid separation uses workbook-style droplet settling by regime, with optional 10 inch/min terminal velocity cap.
  • Browser calculations use analytical circular-segment geometry and numerical head integration instead of lookup-table interpolation.

Design basis

  • Four configurations are supported: single overflow weir, boot, submerged weir and standpipe.
  • Liquid levels are stacked in workbook order for heavy and light phases; required retention times are checked against actual volumes.
  • Results are process sizing / FEED screening only and not pressure-vessel mechanical design.
  • Weight is approximate using carbon-steel density, simplified ASME-style thickness screening and flange/nozzle allowance.
  • Nozzle sizes are rounded to common nominal sizes; use project piping class for final sizing.
  • The workbook’s F&D head approximation and drag-polynomial range are preserved for workbook alignment.
